Police bust drug operation
Sunshine Coast Police have raided three hinterland properties…and seized drugs worth close to one million dollars.
The Tactical Crime Unit searched the properties at Kin Kin, Pinbarren and Cooran….uncovering sophisticated marijuana growing operations.
At KIN KIN- detectives allegedly seized 444 plants, at Cooran, 45 plants were seized, along with about 3 kilos of cannabis…and at Pinbarren it will be alleged officers found marijuana and drug utensils.
Four men have been arrested and charged with 10 drug offences between them.
Next step for Actventure
Council has approved plans for an adventure theme park to be built at Glenview.
Sanad Capital is now waiting for civil contractors to submit bids, to begin bulk earthworks as soon as possible.
The four phase $450 Million dollar ACTVENTURE waterpark will include a hotel, conference facilities, an area for concerts and community events and BMX and skateboarding facilities.
Coast events in national nomination
The Sunshine Coast’s World Environment Day Festival is up for a big award.
It was entered into the category for the ‘best charity or cause event’ in the National Event Awards.
The Sunshine Coast Stadium is also a finalist in the state and territory category for its NRL trial match between the Melbourne Storm and New Zealand Warriors.
The National awards are on September 13 at Caloundra.
Bushfire season safety talk
A community meeting will be held this afternoon, for residents wanting to ensure their homes and property is prepared for the bushfire season- that’s now upon us.
Last month an out of control fire, fanned by strong winds broke out near the Bruce Highway and forced the evacuation of homes at AURA and Little Mountain.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service says the quick actions of affected residents and the work of fire personnel prevented loss of properties and lives.
Locals are encouraged to attend an information session from 5:30 at Unity College, Caloundra West.
