Asbestos removal

There are suggestions that buried roof sheeting containing asbestos at the Lend Lease Sunshine Plaza expansion site- may have been dumped and buried years ago.

The toxic substance was discovered by workers early Wednesday morning at three of the plaza’s 30 construction sites….with the CFMEU immediately shutting work down.

As many as 50 construction workers have now filled out asbestos exposure forms.

The materials are now being removed by a specialist contractor.
