Tree clearing fine

The NOOSA Council says its harsh penalty against a local land owner should serve as a warning to others considering clearing trees from their property.

The property owner was fined $20 thousand, with a local contractor also fined separately, after five large eucalyptus trees were removed from the back of the Allambi Rise property, which created a break in the green backdrop of Noosa Hill.

The Council says the trees will now need to be replaced at the owner’s expense.
