Fran Drescher Confirms She’s In Talks For A ‘Nanny’ Revival!

If you were lucky enough to have been able to enjoy the golden age of TV sitcoms in the ‘90s, you’d know that there was one funny, fabulous woman who stood out above the rest, wearing red while everyone else was wearing tan. I’m talking of course, about Fran Fine from The Nanny.

Ever since reboots became the norm during this decade, with the success of Gilmore Girls, Fuller House, Twin Peaks and (before everything turned to sh*t) Roseanne, fans have been awaiting an announcement about a return of The Nanny.

Now, all the rumours have been fuelled even further, with actress Fran Drescher herself telling Entertainment Tonight that she has been having talks with the show’s creator, Peter Marc Jacob, (who is also her ex-husband) about bringing the show back somehow in a big way.

“We’re talking about it. Peter and I are talking about it,” she told the entertainment site.

“We’re working on a very big project. It’s going to be very exciting for the fans, but I’m not at liberty to announce it yet. But it’s gonna be big.”

Asked where she thinks her character would be now, 20 years on, Fran says:

“She would’ve maybe gotten involved in more things [that] Fran Drencher is involved with.

“All kinds of things from environmental issues, to health, to civil liberties, that’s what I think Fran would be doing now– opening her big Queens mouth for the greater good.”

The Nanny followed the story of a fashionable Jewish woman from Flushing, New York, who lands herself a job nannying the three children of a rich British Broadway producer, Maxwell Sheffield.

The show ended in 1999, with Fran Fine since celebrated as one the most fashionable characters to have graced ’90s television screens.

Sorry, but Carrie Bradshaw could never pull all this off:
