Local firefighter receives bravery award

A humble Sunshine Coast fire fighter says he did what many of his colleges would do- after accepting the Commissioner’s Medal for Valour at a special awards ceremony this week.

Craig Hogarth was called to a unit complex on Queen Street at Caloundra just after 1am in August last year.

He then risked his own life by entering the building, and pulling two unconscious people out, then performing CPR until paramedics arrived.

Mr HOGARTH was one of 27 north coast emergency service personnel to receive awards.
