Park, Ride and Visit – Mooloolaba Triathlon 9 – 11 March.

This year’s Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival on March 9-11 will feature a number of changes, including a new transition zone and car parking areas

The Wharf Mooloolaba will host the transition area at the main car park, fronting Parkyn Parade, between Sea Life Sunshine Coast and Wharf Tavern.

Tourism, Sport and Major Events Portfolio Councillor Jason O’Pray said the changes to the transition zone would cater for the potential unavailability of the Brisbane Road car park – the traditional transition area.

“We’d like to thank everyone associated with the Wharf Mooloolaba Precinct for their help in staging what will be a memorable 2018 Mooloolaba Triathlon,” Cr OPray said.

“A significant amount of planning has been done by council, Ironman and our stakeholders and to ensure easy access to Mooloolaba for the weekend so our locals and visitors to the triathlon can enjoy this fantastic area.”

Key information about the changes is as follows:

Open car parks and route accessibility:

  • Parking will be available at
    • 50 spaces at Mooloolaba Wharf multi-level car park, cnr River Esplanade and Parkyn Parade (parking restrictions timing changed from all day to four hours on Sunday only)
    • Approximately 175 spaces at Brisbane Road car park (Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon),
    • Approximately 500 spaces at Mooloolaba State School (all weekend; cost $10 per day)
    • Limited additional all-day car parking available at Penny Lane Car Park, Mooloolaba (Saturday and Sunday)
    • Various two-hour zones around Mooloolaba (all weekend)
  • Parkyn Parade will still be accessible throughout the event, with a detour via corner of River Esplanade at Mooloolaba Wharf multi-level carpark.
  • Park and ride with free shuttle buses running regularly from Mountain Creek High School to Mooloolaba.
