This Privacy Policy outlines how Sunshine Coast Broadcasters Pty Ltd (ACN 009 519 728) and its Related Bodies Corporate (“we”, “our” or “us”) collect, use, disclose, and store personal information (PI) in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including amendments made under the Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (POLA).
We understand that our clients, audience, customers, and online users may have concerns about the confidentiality, security and handling of their PI. We are committed to adopting practices, procedures, and systems that ensure compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using our websites, mobile apps, participating in promotions, or interacting with us, you consent to this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information collected, held or used in the course of journalism activities. Sunshine Coast Broadcasters Pty Ltd complies with all standards relevant to its journalism functions, including but not limited to, the Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA) Privacy Standards for Broadcasters.
Collection of Information
What kinds of personal information we collect and hold.
We collect various types of PI including but not limited to:
- Name, address, email, phone number, date of birth, age, and gender;
- Payment and billing information (including credit card details);
- Interests, preferences, and engagement history;
- Information relevant to promotions, contests, and loyalty programs;
- Communications with us, including emails and social media interactions;
- Website usage data via cookies, device IDs, and analytics tools; and
- PI from third-party sources such as publicly available databases, marketing lists, and
social platforms.
When we collect personal information and why
We generally collect your personal information to deliver our products and services, and to manage our relationship with you. We may also collect it for research and marketing purposes, to inform you about events, products and services, both our own and those offered by third parties, that may be of interest to you. Additionally, your personal information helps us enhance the quality of our services, administer competitions and promotions, and issue payment receipts where applicable.
We may also collect personal information about you from third-party sources, including marketing databases, publicly available websites, social media platforms, professional directories, journals, and other public records. We only collect personal information from third parties in limited circumstances where it is reasonably necessary for our functions or activities.
When we do so, we will take reasonable steps to inform you of the collection, the source of the information, and provide you with access to this Privacy Policy. Where practical, we will also request that the third party notify you that they have shared your information with us and refer you to this Privacy Policy.
We may collect PI when you:
Enter competitions or trade promotions;
- Participate in loyalty programs;
- Subscribe to email newsletters or databases;
- Purchase products or services from us;
- Stream or use our services via websites or apps;
- Call, email, or interact with us online; and
- Attend events we organise, sponsor, or support.
We may also collect anonymous data using cookies. Cookies do not personally identify you but
allow us to track site usage. You can configure your browser to accept or reject cookies, noting
that some features may be limited if cookies are disabled.
Use of Personal Information
Your PI may be used to:
- Provide products, services, and content to you;
- Communicate with you and manage our relationship;
- We do not process payments over the internet. Clients may pay for advertising services
by calling us with credit card details, via authorised direct debit on a nominated date, or
through electronic fundstransfer(EFT). We retain personal payment information only for
the duration of a client’s advertising campaign and delete it securely thereafter.; - Run competitions, events, and promotions;
- Administer online and mobile app platforms;
- Improve user experience, content, and service offerings;
- Conduct research, analytics, and audience profiling;
- We do not currently use Google Ads or engage in online remarketing practices. If this
changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and take all
reasonable steps to ensure compliance with relevant privacy standards.; and - Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
If you do not want to receive direct marketing communications, you may opt out at any time by
contacting us or using the unsubscribe function in our emails. Alternatively, please contact our

Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose your PI to:
- Internal departments and staff;
- Service providers and contractors (e.g. IT, legal, marketing);
- Competition and trade promotion partners;
- Third-party platforms and applications used in operations;
- Government agencies and regulatory bodies (e.g. OAIC); and
- Other parties asrequired by law or with your consent.
We ensure recipients uphold confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards equivalent to
those required under the Privacy Act.
Security of Personal Information
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures including:
- Data encryption and secure sockets layer (SSL) technology;
- Restricted access and authentication controls;
- Regular monitoring, system audits, and security assessments;
- Staff training and confidentiality obligations.
Despite these measures, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed as 100%
secure.
Overseas Transfers
Our mobile apps are intended for use within Australia only. To our knowledge, no personal information collected via our apps is transferred or accessed outside of Australia. If this changes, we will update this policy and ensure appropriate protections are in place.
Automated Decision-Making and Profiling
We may use automated decision-making tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), for:
- Recommending content or advertising;
- Personalizing your experience; and
- Facilitating customer service and support functions.
You can request an explanation of any significant automated decisions or request human
review where applicable.
Apps and Mobile Devices
If you use a mobile app we administer, we may:
- Collect device-related PI for app functionality and security;
- Transmit data (including PI) to provide app-based services; and
- Use push notifications and location-based services where enabled.
Any PI collected through apps will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Apple,
Google, or other third-party providers are not responsible for our collection of PI.
Trade Promotions and Competitions
When we run trade promotions (including contests, sweepstakes, lotteries, or raffles), we may collect your personal information to administer the promotion and deliver prizes. This information may also be stored in our database and used for future marketing, promotional, and product development purposes, including direct marketing via email, SMS, or other channels.
Some trade promotions may have their own specific privacy terms. If so, those will be provided at the time of entry and will apply to any personal information collected for that promotion.
When entering trade promotions (including contests, sweepstakes, lotteries, raffles), we may:
- Collect and store your PI to administer the promotion and deliver prizes;
- Use your detailsfor marketing and promotional purposes(subject to opt-out); and
- Include separate termsfor each promotion where relevant.
When promotions occur on social media platforms (e.g. Facebook): - The promotion is not administered by the platform unless stated otherwise;
- PI is collected by us, not the platform;
- We are not responsible for technical issues, delays, or account suspensions; and
- Entry deadlines and winner selection are final as per published terms.
Use and Disclosure
By submitting your PI to us, you consent to us using your PI in the following ways and for the
following purposes:
- To provide you with our products and services;
- To administer our relationship with you;
- To administer online and app based services and products; and
- To facilitate the administration of, and your participation in, a trade promotion or other
activity.
Your Rights and How to Contact Us
You have the right to:
- Request access to your PI;
- Request correction or deletion of inaccurate PI;
- Withdraw consent or restrict certain uses;
- Opt out of marketing communications; and
- Lodge a complaint if you believe your privacy has been breached.

Retention of Personal Information
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected:
- For clients: Payment details are retained only during the course of their advertising
campaign; - For prize winners: Personal details are held until the prize has been collected; and
- For listeners: We may retain names and phone numbers for use in limited listener SMS
mailouts.
Doxxing and Harmful Disclosure
We do not disclose your PI with the intention of causing harm, intimidation, or harassment. We comply with criminal laws prohibiting doxxing and will take swift action in response to any unlawful disclosure of personal information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be communicated by:
- Posting a revised version on our websites;
- Including a notice on the homepage; and
- Updating the “Effective Date” listed above.
