About the Day

Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest day of action to raise awareness of child safety, protection, and prevention. Held annually on the last Friday of October, the event honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe and carries a powerful national message: “Wear Red, Educate, Donate.”

On the Sunshine Coast, the Walk for Daniel is the flagship event, drawing thousands of participants in red shirts who walk together to promote child safety. The walk is not a race – it’s a symbolic community gathering where families, schools, businesses, and supporters unite to show their commitment to keeping kids safe.

Events and activities are also held across Australia, with schools, workplaces, and communities wearing red, running fundraising activities, and hosting child safety education sessions.

About the Cause

Funds raised through Day for Daniel go directly to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, which provides free educational resources, campaigns, and support programs to help protect children across Australia. The Foundation’s work empowers young people, families, and educators with practical tools to recognise, react, and report unsafe situations, ensuring Daniel’s legacy continues to make a difference nationwide.

By taking part, you’re helping to create a safer environment for children and spreading a vital message that resonates in every community.
