SunnyKids is a Sunshine Coast-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing integrated support services to children and families facing domestic and family violence, homelessness, and social disadvantage. Established in 1998, SunnyKids operates on the belief that “it takes a village to raise a child,” fostering community collaboration to create safe, stable, and nurturing environments for vulnerable families.

Mission:
To deliver life-changing support to children and families in crisis, aiming to break intergenerational cycles of poverty and violence through early intervention, education, and holistic care.

Core Programs & Services:

  • Emergency Accommodation: Provision of safe housing for women and children escaping domestic violence, including facilities like the Najidah Centre and Cooroy Family Support Centre.
  • S.A.L.T. (Save A Life Tonight): An initiative offering immediate access to emergency accommodation, safety planning, and essential support for families in crisis.
  • Integrated Support Services: Comprehensive case management, including therapeutic services, legal assistance, educational support, and health and wellbeing programs.
  • Educational Programs: Initiatives like SunnyKids in Schools (SKIS) and Mentoring Through Sport (MTS) that support children’s development and resilience.

Impact (2022–2023):

  • 8,839 bed nights provided to families in need.
  • 1,542 children and 889 adults supported through various programs.
  • 136 children sponsored, receiving essentials and access to support services.
  • 2,030 Christmas gifts supplied to children and families.

Kart-A-Thon 2025

  • A team-building karting event aimed at raising funds for women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.

SunnyKids Annual Mayoral Ball

  • Saturday, 25 October 2025
  • 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Machjet Hangar, Sunshine Coast Airport
  • A premier charity ball celebrating 25 years of SunnyKids’ service. Funds raised support the Save A Life Tonight (SALT) campaign, providing emergency accommodation and support for women and children escaping domestic violence.
