Sami’s ‘Go-To’ Christmas Recipe
I was touched, but snickered, when I was asked to give a Christmas recipe to share with you all. Why? Because I am a terrible cook. I do not know how to make white Christmas slice, I burn the ham every year because I get caught up drinking champagne and forget I have the dam thing in the oven, and my plum pudding comes from a plastic bowl ready to microphone.
I love everything about Christmas so I would have been a whizz if asked for a decoration tip or for the best movies to watch at this time of year. You see I truly wish I had a family Christmas recipe dripping in tradition to share with you. But I do not. Cooking for me takes too much focus so instead, I present to you a dish that will turn you into a rock star in the eyes of your children and grandchildren. This recipe is from the Christmas movie starring Will Ferrell called “Elf”. Buddy the elf travels from the north pole to New York City where he tries to bring back the spirit of Christmas with his naïve and enthusiastic ways.
This pasta is his favourite food and he even eats it for breakfast. We make it for our kids and they think all their Christmases have come at once. Do it. It will repulse you and you will not want your kin to eat this crazy dish but just take my advice and do it! Our ten-year-old boy made it in the last week of school for his perplexed teacher and his grade four cohort and it was anarchy at its very best for these kids. And if anyone has an adult family heir loom recipe to share, then please send it my way.
