The Sunshine Coast Australia Day Community Awards

Know someone making a difference on the Sunshine Coast? Nominate them for a 2027 Australia Day Community Award!

We all know someone who goes above and beyond for their community. Maybe it’s the local volunteer who’s always lending a hand, the coach inspiring the next generation, or a community group making life better for those around them.

Now’s your chance to give them the recognition they deserve!

The Sunshine Coast Australia Day Community Awards are back in their traditional format, celebrating the incredible people and groups who help make our region such a special place to live.

After community feedback, the awards are returning alongside the Sunshine Coast Biosphere Community Awards, giving locals another opportunity to recognise the people making a real difference across the Coast.

There are seven award categories for 2027:

• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Senior Citizen of the Year
• Community Group or Organisation
• Arts and Culture
• Healthy and Active
• Environment

Whether they’re protecting our natural environment, bringing people together through the arts, encouraging healthy lifestyles or quietly helping others behind the scenes, their contribution deserves to be celebrated.

Nominations are now open, so think about the people who make your community better and put their name forward.

Key dates to remember:

• Nominations open: Tuesday, 6 October 2026
• Nominations close: Monday, 30 November 2026
• Awards ceremony: Friday, 22 January 2027

Don’t let their good work go unnoticed. Nominate someone who makes a difference and help celebrate the people who make the Sunshine Coast shine.
