The Winter Longboard Classic is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most iconic surf events, hosted annually by the Alexandra Headland Malibu Club at The Bluff.
 
Celebrating over four decades of longboarding tradition, the event has become a beloved fixture on the Australian longboard surfing calendar, attracting surfers from across Queensland and interstate to compete in a weekend of classic surfing, community spirit and coastal culture.
 
2026 Event Dates

Friday 12 June – Sunday 14 June 2026
at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast.
 
Held across the King’s Birthday long weekend, the three-day event transforms Alex Headland into a hub for longboard surfers, families and spectators celebrating traditional surfing style.

Event Highlights: Diverse Competitions: Participants can compete in various age divisions, including Women’s Over 40, Men’s Over 70, Over 65, Over 60, Over 55, Over 45, Over 35, and 8ft heats.
 
Community Engagement: The event fosters a vibrant community atmosphere, encouraging both seasoned surfers and newcomers to share their passion for longboarding.
 
Registration Details: Entry Fees: $70 per division and event; Junior divisions are $25.
